The Edge That Wasn't

About the author

Aharon Zbaida's first job in markets was on the phones: a high-school connector on a nineties Wall Street sales floor, dialing investor leads for a Broad Street brokerage and handing the live calls to the brokers who did the selling. A few months later came the COMEX gold pit in the World Trade Center, as a runner carrying orders for a floor broker. He failed the Series 3. He later founded Peoples' FinTech, a venture wound down around 2021.

The book draws on more than fifteen years of trading-systems work — building, testing, and discarding systems — of which the final four months produced the apparatus this site documents: the containerized research platform, the validation gates, and the eighty-one audited experiments that answer the book's one question.

The dataset behind the book is public. The frozen trade ledger — every closed trade the project recorded — is committed in the companion repository and documented on the Verify page; the broker-reconciled lifetime accounting is on the Ledger page; and the corrections the record required are published under Retractions.

The book, The Edge That Wasn't — Algorithmic Trading, 81 Experiments, 4,932 Live Trades, and the Answer Was No, is available in paperback.
